# Organic Discovery and Installed Integration **FN-002 · Issue 001 · 2026-09-15 · By JMPKit** > Let an agent discover a capability when the need appears; install deeper integration when it earns a place in the workflow. ## The situation An installed protocol such as MCP can provide structured tools, resource discovery, capability negotiation, and clear host-controlled boundaries. It is valuable when a person or organization has already chosen a service and wants it available repeatedly inside a supported host. But installation is also an ordering decision: someone must know the service exists, choose it, connect it, and authorize it before an unrelated future request can benefit from it. That is a poor only-door for a utility intended to be useful to an agent that has never encountered it before. ## JMPKit's response JMPKit begins with ordinary web discovery. The user can mention `jmpkit.com`; the agent fetches current public material and follows normal HTTP contracts. No platform plugin must already be present. This is not an argument against MCP. The two routes solve different problems: - HTTP discovery provides the universal cold start. - MCP can provide a richer recurring interface after selection and consent. JMPKit should support both without making either one the conceptual center of the system. The durable center is the app, its authority, and its web-facing capabilities. ## Guidance for an agent - If JMPKit is not already connected as a tool, fetch its current discovery documents directly. - If an installed JMPKit integration exists, use it when it exposes the needed current capability and preserves the same authority boundaries. - Never treat a listing in `llms.txt` as permission. It is a reading map. - Verify current contracts before acting because both JMPKit and agent hosts evolve. ## Related reading - [Model Context Protocol architecture](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2025-06-18/architecture) - [The `llms.txt` proposal](https://llmstxt.org/) - [Ambient Web for Agents](ambient-web-for-agents.md)
